Friendship Journey with Tiffany Sharpe

10 - 17 January 2027 - South Africa -$3400 EarlyBird

Friendship Journey - Capturing shared experiences through nature, print, and journal making.

A mixed media retreat at Manyoni Private Game Reserve with Tiffany Sharpe

Some retreats teach you to paint. This one teaches you to gather — moments, textures, people, and places — and turn them into something you'll carry home forever.

Guided by playful mixed-media artist Tiffany Sharpe, this experience is built on foundations of deep childhood nostalgia, raw storytelling, and expressive travel journaling to build a personal, handmade diary of your African journey.

Manyoni Private Game Reserve. Big Five country. One of South Africa's most breathtaking wilderness settings — and for seven days, your creative playground.

Pathway Partners has brought together mixed media artist and lifelong maker Tiffany Sharpe, and placed her in the heart of the African bush. Each day, surrounded by wildlife and wild landscape, you'll slow down, get your hands a little messy, and discover that art was never about perfection — it was always about connection.

This isn't a class. It's a gathering.

What to Expect

Each day moves to the rhythm of the reserve. Mornings belong to the bush — early game drives, fresh air, and the kind of light that makes you want to capture everything. Then you come back, sit down at your table with Tiffany, and you begin to make something from what you've seen.

Tiffany leads daily mixed media workshops built around the world just outside your door — the textures of bark, the colours of the landscape, the shapes of animals mid-stride. She weaves together her roots in quilting, nature collecting, and experimental making into sessions that feel less like lessons and more like play.

No experience needed. No rules. Just open hands, a curious mind, and a willingness to gather.

Evenings are for sharing what you made, swapping stories around the fire, and watching the African sky remind you how small — and how lucky — you are.

Meet Tiffany

Tiffany Sharpe has spent her life with messy hands and a curious mind. Long before she was teaching others to create, she was a lifelong crafter — moving between quilting, knitting, scrapbooking, and anything else that let her build something meaningful from scratch.

She spent years as a chemistry teacher, and she'll tell you that science and art are just two sides of the same coin. Both need patience, experimentation, and a willingness to see what happens when different elements collide.

Today, her work blends the outdoors with traditional crafting — rooted in the belief that the best art comes from play. From gathering. From slowing down long enough to notice the things most people walk right past.

She can't go on a walk without filling her pockets with interesting leaves, textured bark, or smooth stones. At Manyoni, her pockets are going to be very full!

Something you didn't know "I am a collector of nature. I can't go on a simple walk without filling my pockets with interesting leaves, textured bark, or smooth stones that most people walk right past."

Inside the Workshop

Tiffany's sessions are built around a simple idea: art is about personal meaning, not perfection. Every workshop is hands-on, tactile, and shaped by what the day has given you — the animals you saw, the textures you touched, the colours the landscape threw at you.

Each session explores:

  • Mixed media techniques using natural materials from the landscape
  • Collage, layering, and experimental mark-making
  • Nature journaling and gathering — turning walks into creative fuel
  • Tactile, hands-on making that connects you to your surroundings
  • The art of freezing a fleeting moment and turning it into a physical memory
  • Creative freedom — no rules, no judgement, just play

Tiffany's ideal participant is anyone with an open mind, a curious spirit, and a willingness to get their hands a little messy. If that's you — you're exactly who this retreat was made for.
